Why is Permission (Opt-in) Mandatory?
Due to both legal regulations (GDPR/KVKK) and WhatsApp rules, you cannot send messages without customer consent. So how do you obtain this permission without annoying the customer?
1. Offer Value
Instead of saying "Give us your number," highlight the benefit: "Check the box to instantly track your order status via WhatsApp." Emphasize what the customer gains.
2. Channels
- Website: An "I want WhatsApp notifications" checkbox on the checkout page.
- SMS: "Click the link to receive our campaigns with images via WhatsApp." text message.
- QR Code: "Scan to reach our WhatsApp support line" QR code in-store or on shipping boxes.
3. Be Transparent
Tell the customer how often and what type of messages you'll send. For example: "We'll only send you exclusive discounts once a week, and important updates about your orders." Being clear builds trust and reduces the chance of being blocked.
